Paralegal: Assist lawyers by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, and researching legal precedent pertaining to the EB-5 and EB-1C employment-based immigrant visa category, and nonimmigrant work visas including L-1A. Prepare affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence, and organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing system. Conduct legal research and plan, coordinate, revise, and edit written technical legal related material pertaining to employment based nonimmigrant and immigrant cases. Prepare, rewrite and edit legal documents to improve readability for lawyer review and clients. Research, write, and edit technical reports and supporting letters that evaluate foreign investors and detail funding sources in order to meet the requirements and guidelines for Employment Based Fifth Preference (EB-5) employment creation immigrant visa category including tracing the lawful sources of funds to be used in investments and calculating the legal sufficiency of invested funds consistent with current governing laws and regulations. Under lawyer supervision, research, review, and edit complex comprehensive business plans, targeted research reports, investment project prospectuses, informational and technical memos, and feasibility analysis reports that showcase the feasibility and rationale of a foreign company’s business expansion in the U.S. Conduct legal research, writing, and editing of legal letters for lawyer’s review in support of other employment based nonimmigrant and immigrant cases. Requires Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, or closely related field and 6 months of experience as Paralegal, or as a Research Intern, Legal Assistant Intern, Legal Compliance Advisor, or related. 6 months must include experience in the legal industry. Paid or unpaid internship experience is acceptable.
